ORANGE, Calif. (January, 26, 2016) Serious Social Media, the leading social media software solution for insurance agents and other industries, today announced it has been selected to join the second class of the Global Insurance Accelerator (GIA), the prestigious global business accelerator focused on developing and growing innovative insurance-centric startups. Serious Social Media is one of five startups chosen for the Des Moines-based 100-day program beginning on February 9, 2016.

Serious Social Media’s flagship product, InsuranceSocial.Media, utilizes state-of-the-art technology to provide busy insurance agents with automated and highly customized insurance social media posts on a platform that’s user-friendly, low-priced, and effective.

As part of the mentor-driven insurance accelerator program, Serious Social Media will receive a seed investment of $40,000, office space, one-on-one mentorship, business development training and access to the GIA’s extensive and diverse network of insurance executives and carriers, investors and industry leaders. In exchange, the GIA receives a six percent equity stake in Serious Social Media.

Home to the insurance innovation capital of the U.S., the GIA began in 2014 as an initiative of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. It is the only U.S.-based insurance accelerator that helps grow insurance-focused technology startups. The GIA’s inaugural class began its accelerator program in February 2015 and consisted of six portfolio companies from all over the world.

At the end of the program, Serious Social Media will have the opportunity to pitch its InsuranceSocial.Media social media software solution to more than 350 industry executives at the annual Global Insurance Symposium in Des Moines.
